Doha: The Executive Council of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has appointed Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) President Hamad Ahmed Al-Hammadi as an expert member of the ITTF Governance Regulations Development Team.
The appointment reflects growing international confidence in Qatari expertise and the country’s expanding role in the global development of table tennis.
The team is tasked with drafting and refining regulations that govern key elements of the ITTF’s governance framework, including the General Assembly, the Executive Council, elections and the structure of various committees, in line with the federation’s new constitution.
Al-Hammadi’s inclusion in the international team highlights the significance of the current phase, which focuses on strengthening the ITTF’s organisational frameworks and corporate governance to enhance transparency, efficiency and clear division of responsibilities across its bodies and committees.
Expressing pride in the selection, Al-Hammadi said the role carries significant responsibility. “I am honoured by this trust from the Executive Board of the International Table Tennis Federation and my selection to the expert team tasked with drafting and developing governance regulations. I see this responsibility as an important opportunity to contribute our expertise and ideas to developing the institutional framework of the sport at the international level.”
He added: “The implementation of the ITTF’s new constitution represents a crucial stage in the development of governance. We are committed to ensuring that the new regulations are clear and effective, and that they contribute to enhancing transparency, efficiency and the organisation of work within the various bodies and committees, thus serving the interests of table tennis and meeting the aspirations of the global table tennis community.”
The appointment underscores Qatar’s active presence in international sports governance and the confidence placed in Qatari talent by global sports federations, further reinforcing the country’s contribution to shaping the future of world sport.
