The balance of power at the 2026 Presidents Cup shifted in dramatic fashion on Friday afternoon at Medinah Country Club. After trailing 3–2 following Thursday's opening fourball matches, the International Team produced one of the most remarkable sessions in golf history, completing a clean 5–0 sweep during the alternate-shot foursomes to surge ahead 7–3 against Jim Furyk’s American squad.
The tone for the session was set in the lead match, where Canadian duo Corey Conners and Nick Taylor ground out a 1-up victory over world number one Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns. Scheffler and Burns held momentum early, but Taylor’s clutch putting on the back nine flipped the match before Conners safely parred the 18th hole to seal the point.
Momentum snowballed across the course as the International side took control in every match:

The 5–0 whitewash marks only the second time in Presidents Cup history that the International Team has swept an entire session, putting Team USA’s decade-long reign in serious jeopardy entering the weekend fourballs and singles.
