Manchester United escaped London with a hard-fought point on Sunday afternoon as Matheus Cunha’s late effort salvaged a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Trailing 1-0, Manchester United rallied in search of a response. Bernd Leno tipped a brilliant curling effort from Bryan Mbeumo around the post to preserve Fulham's lead, while United appeals for a penalty following a potential handball by Bassey were turned down after a VAR check.
Just as Fulham looked set to seal three precious points, Cunha stepped up in the 89th minute. Cutting inside from the left wing, the Brazilian unleashed a powerful strike that took a heavy deflection off David Affengruber, wrong-footing Leno and nestling into the back of the net. The late goal extends Cunha's impressive personal record against Fulham, scoring his fifth goal in seven meetings against the Cottagers, and ensures United leave West London with a point.
